More Than the Case Studies
Hi, I'm Hayden. The rest of this site is about the work: research, systems, shipped outcomes. This page is the rest of it. I've spent 8+ years turning messy problems into interfaces people actually want to use, and most of what shaped how I think about that came from outside of Figma: staying curious wherever I travel, learning how sound and structure come together when I produce music, and knowing when to unplug completely so I can come back and actually see the work clearly.
What I'm into outside of work
Four things that take up most of my time when I'm not in Figma.
Traveling with my partner
We travel for the food and the culture, chasing new cities whenever we can get away. My partner is happiest once we slow down and relax, I'm usually still out walking, trying to learn everything I can about the place we're in.
Meeting other designers
I still go to design conferences on my own time. Less for the talks, more for the conversations after, hearing how other designers actually think through a problem and what new tools are changing how they work.
Music
I produce and DJ for fun. Learning how layers and sound design come together taught me to think about design the same way: as a system, where every piece has to hold up on its own and work together. It's also where I keep my creative energy up.
Dispersed camping
A truck, a dirt road, and no cell signal. It's how I actually unplug and reconnect, and it's become the thing that helps me slow down and reset when I need it most.
